Based on guidelines set out by the National Association of Home Builders & Natural Resources Canada, a Viceroy Superhome embodies these KEY principals of building green:
Sustainable Housing for a Minimal Environmental Footprint
- Your lumber components are precut in a controlled environment using sophisticated software so the least amount of material resources are used in the production of your Viceroy
- At the Viceroy manufacturing facility in Port Hope, ON, even the smallest material components are recycled or reused
- Compared to conventional on-site construction methods, Viceroy's panelization and precutting techniques produce significantly less waste materials
Achievement in Energy Efficiency
- Standard in every Viceroy Superhome Package is an R20 insulated wall system & an R40 insulated roof system (insulations with higher "R" values are available upon request!)
- All Viceroy windows have standard glazing consisting of thermo-seal glass with state-of-the-art, low emissivity (Low E2) coating and are filled with Argon gas, giving them the highest industry rating for Air Infiltration, Water Penetration & Wind Load Blow-out
- High insulation values and Viceroy's Energy Star ® windows provide year round comfort, which reduces heating and cooling costs thereby limiting the output of greenhouse gases
- A Viceroy Superhome Package is compatible with energy efficient building programs such as R-2000 (administered by Natural Resources Canada and the Canadian Home Builder's Association) and L.E.E.D.S (certification available through the Canadian or U.S. Green Building Councils)
Healthy Housing for a Better Quality of Life
- Viceroy uses only water-based coatings, formaldehyde-free and arsenic-free materials and avoids the use of solvents in ALL interior & exterior components of the Superhome Package
- The Viceroy Superhome Package is VOC-FREE! (Volatile Organic Compound)
- A Viceroy Superhome Package is compatible with healthy housing building initiatives such as the Healthy Housing Recognition program (administered by the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation)
- Standard in the Superhome Package are "Rainscreen Technology" and a continuous ridge vent - both allow for increased air flow, reducing the potential for the natural occurrence of moisture buildup in your home's walls and ceiling cavities - a contributing factor of harmful molds and mildew
